The US Marshals Service is investigating a case of seized cryptocurrency theft involving an amount exceeding $40 million. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT accuses John "Lick" Daghita, son of the President of CMDSS, a service provider for the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice, of stealing these assets from a government encrypted wallet managed by his father's company. ZachXBT has confirmed that at least $23 million in funds are related to approximately $90 million in cryptocurrency seized by the government in 2024 and 2025, and has reported it to authorities. The person involved in the case accidentally exposed their controlled wallet address by showing off their wealth in a Telegram group chat and recording a video. ZachXBT confirmed the fund connection through on chain tracking. Brady McCarron, the Public Affairs Director of the U.S. Marshals Service, stated that he is unable to provide further comment as the investigation is ongoing. Previously, there were reports that the US Marshals Service may not have complete control over the specific amount of cryptocurrency assets it controls, which has raised concerns about the transparency of government regulation of cryptocurrency holdings.
