Trump announces raising South Korea's equivalent tariffs to 25%

US President Trump stated on social media that due to the failure of the South Korean Congress to approve the historic trade agreement with the United States, he has decided to increase the equivalent tariffs on South Korean cars, timber, pharmaceuticals, and other goods from 15% to 25%. Trump mentioned that he reached an agreement with South Korean President Lee Jae myung on July 30, 2025, and reiterated the relevant terms during his visit to South Korea on October 29, 2025.
