[UK Supreme Court Rejects Lawsuit by Digital Bank Revolut, Visa, and Mastercard Over Fee Cap] According to a report by Jinse Finance, a lawsuit filed in the UK by digital bank Revolut, Visa, and Mastercard regarding a proposed cap on international transaction fees has been dismissed. The London High Court ruled on Thursday that the UK Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) has the authority to impose price caps on cross-border interchange fees. These fees, charged by Visa and Mastercard to banks, have risen significantly since Brexit. Despite intensive lobbying by fintech companies and banks across Europe, the ruling has been upheld. In 2025, Visa and Revolut had filed a judicial review against the regulatory body, claiming that the UK Payment Systems Regulator had overstepped its authority and that the measures would harm market competition. Notably, this ruling comes just days after former U.S. President Donald Trump called for capping credit card interest rates at 10%, a move that sparked strong opposition from the banking and payments industries. As of press time, Visa, Revolut, and Mastercard have not responded to requests for comment on Thursday's ruling.
