[YO: yoUSD Treasury Fully Operational with Standardized Trade Protection Measures Across All Systems]
Foresight News reports that the DeFi protocol YO has released an analysis of the yoUSD incident. The incident originated from an unexpected behavior in YO's Automated Harvesting System, which swapped assets exceeding the harvest rewards. Since stkGHO serves as both the reward token and the treasury principal token, an abnormal configuration of boundary conditions was triggered. The Harvester attempted to swap the entire stkGHO balance in the treasury (principal plus rewards). This transaction was executed at an extreme price on a decentralized exchange aggregator and was not rejected by the Harvester system. Although the Harvester had slippage parameters in place, these controls only monitored price fluctuations during execution and did not verify whether the initial quote was reasonable, exposing the system to the risk of extreme price shocks.
Currently, the yoUSD treasury is fully operational, and funds are secure. Additionally, user balances were not affected, and the protocol's solvency remains intact. To prevent similar incidents in the future, YO has implemented systemic changes and standardized trade protection measures across all systems.
According to a previous report by Foresight News, as monitored by Defimon, YO Protocol incurred a loss of approximately $3.7 million due to a bad swap involving yoUSD. On-chain data shows that the YoVault operator swapped $3.84 million worth of stkGHO for only about $112,000 worth of USDC, with the approximately $3.7 million difference captured by Uniswap v4 liquidity providers (LPs).
