Man accused of stealing $11 million in XRP sues widow of American country music singer George Jones According to Decrypt, Kirk West, a man suspected of stealing over $11 million worth of XRP from Nancy Jones, the widow of the late American country music singer George Jones, has filed a counterclaim against him. West claims to have accumulated wealth through investments in assets such as cryptocurrencies during the existence of their relationship, and therefore has the right to acquire some of the assets. West was arrested last year on suspicion of stealing $400000 in cash and over 5.5 million XRPs (worth $11.6 million at the time) from Nancy Jones. According to court documents, the two met and fell in love after George Jones' death in 2013. West claimed to be a "cryptocurrency expert" and convinced Nancy to invest in various cryptocurrencies such as XRP, Ethereum, Dogecoin, etc. Nancy kicked West out of her residence last year on suspicion of infidelity, and later discovered that the Ledger hardware wallet, which stored his encrypted assets, had gone missing from the safe. Although over 5 million XRPs have been recovered with the assistance of lawyers, 483000 XRPs (with a current value of over 1 million US dollars) are still missing. In the counterclaim, West denied the theft allegations and claimed that he had created wealth for both parties through "multiple wise investments", demanding a share of half of the cryptocurrency, cash, and gold and silver assets held by both parties when they left Nancy's residence last year. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the related assets also include gold and silver worth $5 million and $1 million in cash. According to current records from Williamson County Court, this case was not updated until West filed a counterclaim this Friday, following the submission of a private subpoena in October of last year.
