Multiple central bank governors from around the world jointly declare support for Federal Reserve Chairman Powell

Several major central bank governors around the world issued a joint statement on Tuesday supporting Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, after the Trump administration threatened to bring criminal charges against Powell. In the statement, the governors of the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, and nine other central banks expressed complete solidarity and emphasized that central bank independence is the cornerstone of maintaining price, financial, and economic stability, and is related to the interests of the people. The US government's criminal investigation nominally involves the renovation of the Federal Reserve headquarters, but Powell called it an "excuse" aimed at giving the president influence over interest rates.
