[Ukraine Imposes Nationwide Ban on Polymarket for Unlicensed Gambling Operations]
According to Finance Feeds, on January 12, 2026, the Ukrainian government officially took action to restrict access to the decentralized prediction platform Polymarket within the country. This enforcement action was led by the National Commission for Electronic Communications (NCEC) and was based on the formal assessment results of PlayCity, a newly established national agency responsible for regulating the gambling and betting industry. Regulators determined that, under Ukrainian law, Polymarket's operations constitute unlicensed gambling activities, specifically highlighting the platform's lack of locally recognized licenses to organize and conduct betting activities. Under Resolution No. 695, the domain name (polymarket.com) has been added to the country's public registry of prohibited internet resources, requiring all local electronic communication service providers to restrict user access to the website.
