[‘Rainbow Six Siege’ Hacked, Players Credited with Billions of In-Game Points, Ubisoft Shuts Down Servers for Rollback]
According to Cointelegraph, French gaming giant Ubisoft was forced to suspend online services for its game *Rainbow Six Siege* after hackers infiltrated the game and credited every player with 2 billion R6 Credits (in-game currency). On December 27, the game team first confirmed the exploit incident via the X platform, followed by a series of updates, and subsequently shut down the game servers and trading market the next day.
Reports from players on social media indicated that the hackers managed to take control of key parts of the game’s online system. Players reported that upon logging into the game, everyone received 2 billion R6 Credits, along with rare items such as skins and weapons. Additionally, screenshots shared by players showed that the hackers had also taken control of the game’s messaging and banning systems. The game sells 15,000 R6 Credits for $99.99, meaning players would need to spend approximately $13.33 million to accumulate 2 billion R6 Credits.
On December 28, the *Rainbow Six Siege* team posted on the X platform, stating that they were working to revoke R6 Credits obtained after 11:00 AM UTC. The game is currently undergoing testing with a small group of players for a relaunch.
