The reason Buffett bought GOOG is hidden here
Buffett used 10% of his cash to buy Google stock and has already gained 50% in returns
Over the past year, Gemini's share of generative AI website traffic grew from 5.4% to 18.2%, eating up about 13% of the market share that originally belonged to OpenAI.
This growth rate is no longer just “testing the waters” for Google—their return to an AI-focused strategy is starting to pay off. When Gemini gets integrated into Search, Android, and Workspace, the massive existing user base doesn’t even think about whether to try it—they just use it naturally.
Is this shift in market share because of a huge generational gap between the models? In my opinion, it’s more about a change in entry points. It’s not like ChatGPT users are collectively jumping ship; it feels more like new users are no longer sticking to just one door. After all, Nano Banana’s style is already trending in the community.
But does having distribution channels guarantee success? Copilot hasn’t made much progress! Even though it’s already rolled out across Windows, Office, and Edge Unlike in the crypto world, in AI, the product itself still matters a lot (yes, I’m throwing shade at a certain perp again).
OpenAI remains the king of generative AI and is now exploring the possibility of placing ads on web pages. This is far more feasible than the previously assumed approach of giving advertisers priority placement in search results, as it ensures objectivity and quality in search.
The differences between models might be subtle for the average user. The next step is to see who can integrate more seamlessly into users’ daily lives. And with its complete ecosystem, Google undoubtedly has more potential.
I’ve been selling $300 put options—can I get a chance to add more?
