Wow incredible reporting by the Times. Bari Weiss pulled CBS 60 Minutes report on the horrendous immigration detainment conditions, last minute and wanted to turn it into a propaganda piece for Stephen Miller. As someone who has been interviewed multiple times by 60 Minutes on background - I can tell you that their reporting is careful, in-depth and takes MONTHS of production for serious topics. The 60 Minutes producers take excruciating care, to make sure they speak to people on both sides of the issue, offer any involved parties the opportunity to comment, to fact-check everything and select every word fairly. I have genuinely spoke to a 60 Minutes producer before, on another topic, for an hour long phone call where they were trying to make sure they deeply understood a technology well enough to decide if a word-choice was a fair characterization BECAUSE they didn’t want to risk biasing a statement. 60 Minutes is balanced reporting, but it is not a soapbox for the administration that would let an unfiltered propaganda piece from Stephen Miller air. If they interviewed him, they’d want to provide fact checking or edit out opinion based propaganda, which then the administration would vilify. Bari Weiss cutting a piece last minute because she wanted propaganda is unhinged.
