The scam group targeting similar prefix and suffix addresses has launched at least 7 waves on Ethereum. Gas fees are totally not a concern anymore—it's ridiculously cheap. For example, poisoning 300-500 wallet addresses in a single transaction only costs about $0.1-$0.5 in Gas fees. There are generally two types of address poisoning: 1. Poisoning with real tokens, like USDT/USDC, ranging from as little as 0.000x to as much as 10 U. The exact amount depends on their strategy (yes, they even have follow-up strategies...). 2. Poisoning with fake tokens. As shown in the image, why can this method also be effective? Because some wallets are really bad—they barely do anything to prevent address poisoning, yet they brag endlessly about how "secure" they are... In this case, we already know what wallet the whale is using. Honestly, we want to roast them, but let's leave it for now. In this scenario, the whale is definitely the one most responsible. If wallets could implement proper address poisoning detection and defense mechanisms, it would be a huge plus. Regardless, as players in the crypto space, always remember that *you* are the last line of defense. One last reminder (because it's worth repeating): all major wallets have wallet address whitelist features. Use the whitelist wisely, and you won't get hurt again...
