[Tether-Related Company Sells Northern Data Mining Business, Rumble Subsequently Announces Acquisition of Northern Data]
BlockBeats News, December 19, according to FT, Tether's AI data center company Northern Data has sold its Bitcoin mining business, Peak Mining, for up to $200 million to companies controlled by Tether founder Giancarlo Devasini and CEO Paolo Ardoino (such as Highland Group Mining, 2750418 Alberta ULC, etc.).
A few days after the transaction was announced, the conservative social platform Rumble, in which Tether holds nearly 50% stake, agreed to acquire Northern Data for approximately $767 million. Earlier this year, Northern Data was subject to a surprise investigation by the EU over allegations of large-scale tax fraud. The company denied the allegations and stated it was cooperating with the investigation.
