[Russia Plans to Expand the Scope of Cryptocurrency Mining Ban, Two Siberian Regions to Enforce Year-Round Prohibition] According to a report by Jinse Finance, the Russian government plans to implement a year-round cryptocurrency mining ban in the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory starting in 2026. These two regions currently enforce a temporary ban during the winter (from November 15, 2025, to March 2026), but a draft document from the government’s Electric Power Industry Development Committee indicates that these restrictions will be extended into permanent measures. This move is the latest in Russia's crackdown on cryptocurrency mining. At present, at least 10 regions across the country have implemented long-term mining bans, which will remain in effect until the spring of 2031. The Russian Ministry of Energy previously stated that it is closely monitoring the energy situation in these regions and is prepared to take swift action.
