[U.S. Federal Judge Halts Connecticut's Enforcement of Gambling Laws Against Kalshi] BlockBeats News, December 10 – U.S. Federal Judge Victor Bolden has ordered a temporary halt to Connecticut's enforcement of gambling laws against the prediction market platform Kalshi until the court makes a decision on the company's request for a preliminary injunction. This move is in response to a cease-and-desist order issued last week by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection to Kalshi, Robinhood, and (Crypto.com), accusing these platforms of offering 'unlicensed online sports gambling' services. Kalshi argues that as a contract market designated by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission), it falls under exclusive federal jurisdiction, and state gambling regulations do not apply. The company is facing regulatory challenges nationwide, having previously secured a similar injunction in New Jersey but recently losing a preliminary injunction in Nevada that would have protected it from enforcement actions. The court has scheduled oral arguments for February 12, 2026, during which Connecticut officials are required to suspend any enforcement actions.
