[Polish lawmakers fail to overturn the president's veto on the crypto asset bill] According to Bloomberg, Polish lawmakers failed to overturn a veto on a bill regulating digital assets, dealing a blow to Prime Minister Donald Tusk's efforts to oversee the industry. Tusk believes the sector has become a channel for Russia to carry out conspiracies in EU countries. The lower house of parliament failed to secure the three-fifths majority needed to overturn President Karol Nawrocki's veto. Ahead of Friday's vote, Tusk stated that approving the legislation to implement EU crypto industry standards is a matter of national security. He told parliament that the bill would provide Polish authorities with "tools to regulate a new market that is currently unregulated, where Russian intelligence agencies, Russian mafia, and money laundering activities are active." He also noted that the local crypto industry has been infiltrated by "hundreds" of foreign entities, many of which are from Russia and Belarus. Earlier reports indicated that the Polish president vetoed a bill imposing strict regulations on the crypto asset market.
