[The Fed Faces a Showdown Moment, PCE Monthly Rate Expected to Record 0.3%, Unchanged from Previous Value] Odaily Planet Daily News: As this critical time point approaches on Friday, Wall Street's attention is collectively focused on the upcoming September Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index. As the Federal Reserve's most favored inflation indicator, this report is not only the first official inflation reading since late September but is also regarded as the 'anchor' that could determine whether the U.S. stock market breaks out of its recent volatility and establishes a future direction. Institutions such as FactSet predict that the overall PCE annual rate is expected to record 2.8%, a slight rebound from August's 2.7%. If this prediction comes true, it would mark the highest level since April 2024. The PCE monthly rate is expected to record 0.3%, unchanged from the previous value. Excluding food and energy, the core PCE annual rate is expected to record 2.9%, unchanged from the previous value, while the core PCE monthly rate is expected to record 0.2%, also unchanged from the previous value.
