[Two Brothers in the U.S. Delete 96 Government Databases in Anger After Being Fired, Then Ask AI 'How to Clear Logs'] According to Ars Technica, the U.S. Department of Justice has charged two contractor brothers, Muneeb Akhter and Sohaib Akhter, who, five minutes after being terminated, used accounts that had not yet been deactivated to hack into and delete 96 government databases, including those related to DHS investigations and FOIA records. The indictment states that Sohaib altered permissions and executed the deletions, while Muneeb subsequently asked AI 'how to clear SQL Server and Windows Server 2012 logs,' indicating an attempt to cover up their actions. The two had previously been convicted for hacking into the State Department. After the incident, they discussed removing evidence from their home and reinstalling the operating systems on company laptops, but were ultimately arrested.
