[Argentine State Energy Giant YPF Considering Accepting Cryptocurrency for Fuel Payments]
According to Cointelegraph, Argentina's state-owned energy company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales (YPF) is considering allowing drivers to use cryptocurrency to pay for gasoline and diesel. Sources familiar with the matter stated that the plan might rely on third-party processors rather than direct wallet payments, with local and international platforms such as Lemon, Ripio, or Binance handling currency conversion. If implemented, the system's operation mechanism would be similar to YPF's current method for dollar purchases. Customers would need to scan a QR code to transfer funds to YPF's account at Banco Santander. The application would display the corresponding amount in pesos, along with a reference exchange rate determined by the Banco Nación's buying rate.
