Aave is currently operating on at least 18 blockchains, including numerous Ethereum Layer 2 networks, as well as other Layer 1 networks like Aptos and Sonic. Now, Aave DAO's primary delegate platform, ACI, appears to be rolling back part of its expansion plans and imposing stricter requirements for future deployments. As part of its proposal, ACI also suggests setting a $2 million annual revenue threshold for future deployments and establishing a stablecoin 'reserve factor' for other low-revenue chains. According to forum discussions, ACI's Growth Service Provider (Growth SP) proposed rolling back Aave deployments on the zkSync, Metis, and Soneium networks, as these deployments 'have proven to be misaligned with market demand.' Compared to other Aave deployments, these three chains have the lowest total value locked and contribute only a small portion of Aave's total revenue. Metis, co-founded by Vitalik Buterin's mother Natalia Ameline, currently generates an annualized revenue of just over $3,000. Soneium performs slightly better, with annualized revenue exceeding $50,000. In contrast, Aave's largest deployment on Ethereum's mainnet generates over $142 million in revenue, while Base generates $4.7 million.
