["Big Short" Michael Burry: Bitcoin is "the tulip bulb of our time," $100,000 is absurd]
Odaily Planet Daily reported that investor Michael Burry, famous for "The Big Short," stated that the hype around Bitcoin has spiraled out of control, calling it "the tulip bulb of our time," referencing the 17th-century tulip mania bubble collapse. Burry said in a podcast aired on Tuesday that Bitcoin is "worthless" and described seeing Bitcoin reach $100,000 as "the most absurd thing." He also claimed that Bitcoin is worse than tulip bulbs because it "fuels so much criminal activity hidden beneath."
On Tuesday morning, Bitcoin's price rose approximately 1.5%, trading around $88,700. Bitcoin had hit an all-time high of over $120,000 in October but has since dropped more than 30%.
Burry recently broke a two-year silence, revealing short positions in Nvidia and Palantir last month (which led to his fund being liquidated) and repeatedly warning about the AI bubble. Burry had previously criticized cryptocurrencies as a "speculative bubble" in 2021.
