Over the more than thirty years of our relations, we have built a friendly relationship and a close economic partnership with Slovenia.
The cooperation between our two countries in protecting national minorities is exemplary across Europe. The Slovenian community in Hungary and the Hungarian community in Slovenia constitute the strongest bond and the greatest shared value between us.
The national minority self-governments – the National Slovenian Self-Government in Hungary and the MuraRegion Hungarian Self-Government National Community in Slovenia - play an important role in both countries. These organisations have also developed excellent cooperation with one another in numerous areas of life.
We consider cross-border infrastructure developments to be of great importance. The programmes and funds aimed at developing the Hungarian–Slovenian border region are particularly significant, and we remain committed to maintaining them.
Today, together with President @nmusar of Slovenia, we are visiting the Slovenian community in the Rába region and the Hungarian community in the Mura region. We will jointly commemorate the anniversaries of the establishment of their organisations, and we will also hold discussions with representatives of both communities, so that we can learn first-hand about their work, their questions and the challenges they face.(Dr. Tamás Sulyok)
