[Vitalik: Ethereum Expected to Continue Scaling Next Year, Possibly Increasing Gas Fees for Inefficient Operations]
Foresight News reports that Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin tweeted, stating that he expects Ethereum to shift from comprehensive scaling to targeted optimization next year, continuing to improve network throughput. He proposed a potential approach: increasing the Gas limit by 5x while simultaneously raising Gas fees for operations with high on-chain processing costs by 5x, aiming to enhance overall throughput and mitigate the excessive burden caused by inefficient operations on nodes.
The potential Gas cost adjustments mentioned by Vitalik include: SSTORE for creating new storage slots, certain SSTORE operations, precompiles other than elliptic curves, CALL for invoking large contracts, complex arithmetic instructions (such as MODMUL), and Calldata.
