**[Rising Concerns Over Living Costs and Job Market Put Republicans in a Tough Spot Ahead of Midterm Elections]** Jin10 Data, November 12 – Dissatisfaction with affordability has fueled Democratic victories in last week’s state and local elections. In addition, Americans are increasingly uneasy about the job market. According to a recent Harris Poll commissioned by a U.S. institution, approximately 55% of employed Americans expressed concerns about losing their jobs. This anxiety follows a series of layoff announcements from major employers, including Target and Starbucks. Job placement firm Challenger estimates that October’s layoff announcements were the highest for any October in over two decades. Among respondents, 48% stated that if they lost their current job, it would take four months or longer to find a new position of similar quality. The survey, conducted among 2,203 adults, has a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points. Michael Reich, an economics professor at the University of California, Berkeley, commented: “Several indicators, including the latest consumer confidence survey, suggest that the economy and labor market are weakening. If these trends persist, the ruling party will be blamed. This spells trouble for Republicans in next year’s midterm elections.”
