The past couple of years, social media has been buzzing with all kinds of experts hyping up RWA. Personally, I haven’t had much opportunity to get involved. Let me share some casual thoughts on my understanding—honestly, I haven’t participated much either; it’s mostly been theoretical discussions. When it comes to the RWA space, I think compliance and regulation are the foundation. Compliance sets the baseline for RWA projects to operate normally, while meeting multi-layered regulatory demands across different fields determines their upper limit. Regulatory pressure mainly comes from three aspects: 1. **Asset Compliance:** Ensuring that the real-world assets corresponding to on-chain tokens legally exist and don’t constitute unauthorized securities issuance. The SEC’s shift toward a framework-based approach instead of enforcement threats is one of the key factors driving the rise of the RWA space. 2. **Transaction and Fund Flow Compliance:** Adhering to KYC, AML, tax, and cross-border regulatory requirements to ensure the transparency and legality of fund sources and flows. Preventing illicit funds from entering the system is the baseline for any DeFi project connected to real-world currencies. 3. **Information Transparency and Technical Compliance:** Ensuring asset and yield transparency and credibility through audits and disclosures, while guaranteeing the security and controllability of smart contracts. Platform contracts must undergo security audits to prevent hacking or logical loopholes that could lead to fund losses. Some regions even require smart contracts to have “regulatory control” or “emergency pause” functions. For RWA projects, choosing the optimal jurisdiction for issuance can significantly impact subsequent operations. I’ve been following and writing about @KAIO_xyz. Its operational logic is that it doesn’t act as a licensed fund manager itself but collaborates with regulated financial institutions and licensed investment managers who handle the underlying products. For example, BlackRock’s BUIDL fund and Brevan Howard. KAIO’s main role is providing tokenization infrastructure and on-chain access, embedding compliance into smart contracts through multiple audits and integrated design. This approach allows KAIO to maintain institutional-grade compliance while enhancing composability in the DeFi space. In simple terms, KAIO’s solution to regulatory pressure is to only work with highly compliant, high-quality institutional assets, focusing on creating more possibilities for RWA assets in the DeFi space. By the way, KAIO’s application is about to launch soon—keep an eye on their social media channels to stay ahead of the curve. #KAIO #RWA
