I love watching finance videos at night.
Talking about stocks, inflation, and bonds.
But every time the word 'bonds' comes up, my mind just drifts away.
Feels like that stuff is way too far from me, like only big-shot bankers or fund managers understand it.
Until recently, a friend suddenly told me,
'I’ve been buying Treasury bonds on-chain lately, pretty stable.'
I burst out laughing on the spot:
'You? Buying Treasury bonds? Wow, bro, which bank did you line up at?'
Then he sent me a link—@Theo_Network.
I clicked on it and realized it’s not the kind of 'traditional finance' I was thinking of.
It’s actually a token called ThBill.
Turns out it’s an asset pegged to U.S. short-term Treasury bonds,
issued by Standard Chartered’s tokenization platform, Libeara.
Behind it is a real portfolio of ultra-short-term Treasury bonds + cash.
To put it simply:
In the past, buying Treasury bonds meant going to the bank, checking interest rates, calculating terms.
Now Theo has brought all of that 'on-chain.'
The token you buy in your wallet is essentially a piece of the bond,
and the returns come from U.S. Treasury bond interest—safe and liquid.
That’s when I realized—
Bonds don’t have to be confusing,
and they’re not just something for finance big shots to play with.
What Theo is doing is bringing the logic of 'stable investing'
onto the blockchain,
so that we crypto players can also get closer to the core of traditional finance.
Later, I joked:
'I used to think Web3 was all about risk, now it even has a “Treasury bond vibe.”'
Theo is like adding a touch of rationality to this industry,
bringing 'time value' to the on-chain world.
Interesting, right?
The word 'bonds,' which I used to avoid like the plague,
has now become the most reassuring asset in my wallet.
