I totally get everyone's anxiety about the leader changing hands. Not trying to diss anyone, just sharing some honest thoughts.
1. Payai—I joined pretty late, around 14M when I jumped in.
2. After doing some research, I couldn’t bring myself to go for the 40M ping, but once I understood the logic behind Payai, I felt like it had great value for money.
3. Facilitator isn’t actually that hard to understand. Think of it as something like China Mobile, Alipay, plus a custody function. The description might sound too grand, but the China Mobile example is much more relatable. Without it helping you verify, no x402 project could ever get off the ground.
4. The analogy is one thing, but on the other hand, you can look at last year’s AI meme. Goat took the lead initially, but it was clearly overtaken later by multiple AI utility coins with real-world applications. Even though none of them had a perfect economic model, the market is always right (won’t go into a full review here—there are too many examples, like Swarms, ZRC, etc., which surpassed Goat in market cap).
In summary, this round of x402 memes will only iterate faster than the last round of AI memes. Once the leader emerges, it’ll be a hundred chains blooming —a 3-month narrative cycle might even get compressed into just one month.
