Dabba: When most DePINs were still making cakes, this project was already printing money
To be honest, I've been feeling a bit numb lately when I read about the DePIN project.
The white paper spans 128 pages, the team background is exaggerated, and the route drawing is even more exquisite than a science fiction film. And then? I don't know the actual landing data, but the device deployment is about to begin and the revenue model is currently being tested.
It wasn't until I saw the data of the Indian version of Helium (HNT) Dabba that I realized: there really were projects that had already implemented business models before TGE.
one ⃣ Let's talk about the data first, talk nonsense later
I'll just throw out Dabba's current data:
20000+hotspot devices are already running
Covering over 70 countries, not planned, already covered
100000 devices online every day
50-60TB of data traffic per day
Cooperate with 21 local LCOs (last mile broadband operators) in India
Average monthly revenue of $7 per hotspot
The monthly revenue of the entire network is $98000
Did you see that? This is the data before TGE.
Not the predictions in the white paper, not the promises in the roadmap, but the real business happening now, now, and every day.
two ⃣ The fact that 700 million people in India lack internet access is a real gold mine
More than 700 million people in India still lack stable internet connectivity. 700 million people.
Why don't traditional telecom operators do it? The profit margin is too thin. Why can't the government cover it? The infrastructure cost is too high. But the problem is that these people have smartphones in their hands, they want to access the internet, and they are willing to pay.
This is the opportunity.
Dabba's gameplay is very simple: anyone in the world can buy a Vault Pass for $1 to participate in building this WiFi network and share the profits. You don't need to deploy equipment in India yourself, you don't need to understand technology, or even have a large amount of funds.
1 dollar. This is the lowest threshold DePIN project I have ever seen.
three ⃣ I am truly impressed with this model, which can be destroyed upon use
This is the most impressive part of Dabba.
When Indian users buy internet fees in rupees to access the internet, the protocol will automatically repurchase DBT tokens from the market and permanently destroy them. It's that simple.
Based on current data consumption, TGE will be able to destroy $100000 worth of tokens per month. And this number is still growing at a rate of 30% per month.
Your model is that the value of tokens is not supported by storytelling, but is burned by real bandwidth consumption.
Every ordinary person in India who uses WiFi to watch videos is deflating DBT. This is the his mother practical scene.
four ⃣ Vault Pass: $1 can be a 'shareholder'
To be honest, I have always felt that the traditional gameplay of DePIN is problematic.
Look at Helium, if you want to buy a hotspot device, it starts at $500.
Hivemapper's dashcam costs over $300. WeatherXM's weather station costs $600.
These projects are essentially 'games for the wealthy'. You need to invest in hardware first in order to participate in network construction and receive token rewards.
Dabba directly lowered the threshold to $1.
Mystery Pass only costs $1, and you can participate in weekly lucky draws to receive XP ranking rewards, which can be redeemed 1:1 for equivalent DBT. If you want to invest more, you can buy Bonus Pass, DBT for lock up pre-sales, and receive additional percentage rewards.
This is not technological innovation, this is rule innovation.
Dabba has turned a capital intensive business into a global grass roots movement. Anyone can participate, anyone is a part of the network.
five ⃣ The physical entrance to Solana's ecosystem, this positioning is quite clever
How many DeFi, NFT, and GameFi projects are currently available on Solana? a load of.
But for these applications to truly reach the streets and rural areas of India, they need something: a physical world network connection.
Dabba is doing this thing. It is not just a WiFi network, it is a bridge for Solana's ecosystem to reach emerging markets.
It collaborates with WeatherXM to deploy weather stations, explores the Japanese market with Animoca Brands Japan, and engages in token destruction linkage with the BONK community. These collaborations may seem complicated, but the underlying logic is the same: connecting on chain applications with the real world.
Hardware deployment, traffic usage, token destruction, the entire closed loop runs smoothly in the physical world. This is the true mass adoption.
six ⃣ The financing background is relatively solid
Dabba has raised over $5 million in funding, with investors including Y Combinator and Multicoin Capital.
These institutions are not foolish, they would not invest in a project that solely relies on PPT storytelling. They are investing in a team that already has real business, real income, and real users.
The founders Karam Lakshman and Shubhendu Sharma have been doing this since 2017, starting with WiFi experiments at a small tea house in Bangalore. I trust entrepreneurs who go through cycles like this.
seven ⃣ Growth flywheel: everyone's interests are tied together
The most wonderful thing about Dabba's model is that it binds the interests of all participants together.
More users use the internet → More data consumption → Increased protocol revenue → Buy and destroy more DBTs → Token value increases → Attract more node operators → Network coverage expands → Attract more users again
This is a positive cycle.
Users want cheap websites, node operators want revenue, token holders want deflation, and ecological projects want coverage. Everyone has the motivation to make the internet bigger.
Vault Pass is not just a financing tool, it is a mechanism that turns individual investors into a community of shared interests.
eight ⃣ TGE is expected to arrive in the next 40-60 days
The official statement is that it will be launched on the Solana mainnet within 40-60 days, and DEX and CEX will simultaneously open for trading. The specific platform will be announced at that time.
How to participate? Follow @ DabbaNetwork, get a Vault Pass (starting at $1), and then just wait.
My opinion
I have watched too many projects on the DePIN track. Most of them are skilled storytellers, with an actual landing ability of about zero.
Dabba is one of the few projects that had self generating ability before TGE. It does not rely on subsidies to attract users, does not rely on printing coins to maintain operations, and does not rely on financing to extend its life.
It relies on real bandwidth consumption, real cash flow, and real token destruction.
This is what DePIN should look like. isn't it?
When Solana's various applications want to reach emerging markets, they need a physical gateway to the world. Dabba is this entrance. And the owner of the entrance is every ordinary person who spends $1 to buy a Vault Pass.
