Trezor's newly launched hardware wallet, the bitcoin-only version of Safe 7, comes with quantum-resistant security.
Not sure if it'll actually work when the time comes, but grabbing a few to use now might ease some quantum anxiety.
Quantum security refers to a hardware wallet's ability to withstand future quantum computer attacks. Traditional encryption like ECDSA could potentially be cracked by Shor's algorithm, leading to private key leaks. Safe 7 is the world's first quantum-ready hardware wallet that doesn't require hardware replacement.
It uses quantum-secure signature algorithms to verify firmware updates and supports future integration of post-quantum algorithms like CRYSTALS-Dilithium or Falcon. The device can transition seamlessly, avoiding private key exposure.
The dual security chips, TROPIC01 (open-source, auditable) and OPTIGA Trust M (EAL6+ level), provide hardware isolation, ensuring private keys never leave the device.
Its flexible update mechanism allows encryption standards to be updated as soon as quantum threats emerge.
