The only way the natural state of a market can be assumed to be deflation is if you can safely expect steady demand and constant productivity gains. The tricky part in practice is that you can't assume either of those things. Arbitrarily restricting the money supply doesn't achieve it, and in fact would curtail the very investment needed for continuous efficiency gains.(𝐓𝐗𝐌𝐂)
