Here is the breakdown of that BTC liquidation map. This is an optical_opti chart, so we are looking at short term moves. This data usually gets cleared in a few days.
This chart shows us where leveraged positions will be liquidated.
The green vertical line is the current price, around 115131.8.
The bars on the left, below the current price, are long liquidations.
The bars on the right, above the current price, are short liquidations.
There are significant clusters of long liquidations between 114000 and 115000.
There is a massive wall of short liquidations starting just above the current price, extending to around 117000. The cumulated short liquidations line (pink) shows this clearly, spiking hard above current price.
Compared to the shorts, the longs below are less pronounced.
This means price is more likely to be pulled upwards to clear those short positions. Those short clusters, especially between 115500 and 117000, act as huge magnets. Price moves towards these zones to liquidate over-leveraged traders.
Knowing this, a trader can set profit targets near those large short liquidation clusters. Also, for risk management, understanding where these traps are helps avoid getting caught in sudden volatile moves meant to liquidate masses. This optical_opti timeframe means these moves can happen fast, often within days.
