Permissionless prediction markets work like this: anyone, at any time, for any event, can create a prediction. Liquidity is mainly provided by the creator, but the higher the liquidity, the more likely it is to attract more users. As long as the prediction goes viral or the event being predicted gains widespread attention, it’s easy to generate traffic and financial momentum. In essence, predictions are a form of representing 'public opinion.' Back when Polymarket blew up, it was because of predictions about the U.S. presidential election. Even though Americans couldn’t use it at the time, many mainstream media outlets still saw it as a reflection of U.S. public opinion, because people were literally putting their money where their mouth was. Of course, while permissionless systems allow anyone to participate, whether people actually join and how many do so depends on a lot of skill. This, in turn, drives growth in related industries and sectors. Overall, I personally believe that permissionless predictions + AI have the real potential to take off and create a few unicorn platforms. Sponsored by Bitget | @Bitget_zh
