I’ve already spoken to @DillyHussain88 privately over email, but I am also happy to share my responses here as Dilly would also like this done over Twitter.
Dilly makes five claims in his message to me:
1. That things were said on my show without pushback.
2. That I “allowed Robinson to spew hateful lies.”
3. That I share Robinson’s beliefs.
4. That my security team will target young Muslim men.
5. That my football club will discriminate against Muslims.
On point 1: pushback
I specifically said on the show “Our problem in Bedford isn’t Muslims. Our problem is white drug addicts and white alcoholics. That’s the biggest problem.”
Anyone who listens to my show knows I’ve repeated time and again that Bedford does not have a Muslim integration problem. Others have tried to drag me into saying it does, I’ve always pushed back.
On point 2: “allowing hateful lies”
I can’t control what a guest says. Interviews are questions and answers, not censorship sessions. Tommy is responsible for his words, I’m responsible for mine.
When Tommy claimed: “…I guarantee you, the Bedford heroin market is controlled by Queen’s Park Muslim community… they’re all going to be Muslim.” I immediately replied: “Well, no, because we also have the county lines, we have the crack, so it’s crack and heroin in Bedford.”
It’s impossible to live fact-check every statement in real time. Even Rogan tried with Alex Jones and it was a disaster. Some claims can only be properly checked later with data. That doesn’t mean interviews shouldn’t happen.
On point 3: sharing beliefs
This is far too broad. There are things I agree with Tommy on, and plenty I don’t, just as there are things I agree and disagree with Dilly on.
On point 4: security targeting Muslims
Completely false. We actually have Muslims on the security team. The team exists to address crime and antisocial behaviour, full stop. In fact, I’ve been very open that the biggest challenge in Bedford is white drug addicts.
On point 5: my football club discriminating
Completely false. We have a Muslim player in our squad. Our club has always been inclusive.
I understand these issues are emotionally charged, but demanding I apologise on behalf of Tommy makes no sense. Only Tommy can answer for Tommy, and I’ll answer for myself.
I’ve also offered to come to Queens Park, meet with the community, hear concerns, and have an honest conversation. Likewise, Dilly is welcome on my show.
As for Tommy’s specific claim about the heroin trade, I’ll try to fact-check it, but that would require hard data from the police, and I’m not sure it even exists.
I remain open to discussing all of this. I would ask anyone replying to be respectful to Dilly and keep this constructive.(Peter McCormack 🏴☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪)
