[Market Focuses on Powell's Speech, Analysts Expect a Cautious Stance]
Wall Street is closely watching Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's speech this Friday at the Jackson Hole Global Central Bank Annual Meeting. Analysts believe that, given the backdrop of recent strong inflation data, Powell may adopt a cautious stance. StoneX senior advisor Jon Hilsenrath pointed out that although the likelihood of a rate cut in September is relatively high, Powell may not provide a clear timeline for rate cuts, as the Fed's inflation control target has not yet been achieved. Currently, the Fed does not have all the data needed to determine the direction of interest rates, and future policy will depend on key indicators such as August employment data and CPI.
Andrew Tyler, Head of Global Market Intelligence at JPMorgan, believes the Jackson Hole meeting is unlikely to have a significant impact. Rose Advisors portfolio manager Patrick Fruzzetti stated that Powell may continue to emphasize inflation over employment growth but is unlikely to send aggressive policy signals.
