[Workers' Daily: Suspicious Virtual Currency Transactions May Constitute a Crime] According to a report by Workers' Daily, the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court recently heard a case involving the use of virtual currency transactions to conceal or disguise criminal proceeds. The defendant, Liu, knowingly assisted in transferring 200,000 yuan of fraud proceeds using USDT, despite being aware that the funds were criminally obtained. Liu was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and fined 40,000 yuan, with the illegal gains confiscated. The court emphasized that assisting in the transfer of virtual currency or funds of unknown origin may violate criminal law and result in criminal penalties.
