Last month when I was in Japan, I was grateful for the care of @ -FORAB AB and his wife, who explained to me a lot about Japanese immigration, which greatly inspired me. Although Japan's tax policy is not very friendly towards cryptocurrencies, after all, there is a capital gains tax. However, if work and non residence can be separated, Japan is a very convenient place to live.
In terms of living costs, the prices in Japan are similar to those in Shanghai. Tokyo may be slightly more expensive, but the cost is limited. Except for a small amount of fruits, it is much cheaper compared to Singapore. I have roughly calculated that based on my personal pure food and accommodation costs, I only need about 40% of Singapore's.
If it's the whole family, including children's education, this proportion can be reduced to about 30% of Singapore's. The biggest expense in Japan compared to Singapore should be travel costs, but car prices in Japan are much cheaper than in Singapore, and even a discount can be obtained after halving. Therefore, buying a car is not a big problem for living in Japan.
The difference in entertainment consumption between Japan and Singapore is not very large, but overall Japan is slightly cheaper. However, Japan has a biggest problem, as AB said, there are still too few friends now, and Japan is a bit bigger than Singapore. It is difficult for friends to gather everything in half an hour, and there is also a language problem, which is a bit headache.
But the flaws do not overshadow the merits. Japan's current immigration policy is very good, especially for families with children and considering studying abroad. The cost-effectiveness of Japanese PR is very high. Compared to Singapore's black box, Japanese PR or naturalization is a better option before obtaining a Singaporean PR.
