BlockBeats news, on July 15th, according to TheBlock, Wintermute released its latest report stating that in the bull market of the first half of 2025, there were significant differences in investment strategies between retail investors and institutional investors, resulting in a significant divergence in trading interest, which had mostly been synchronized in previous years.
The report shows that institutional investors continue to double their bets on major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, while retail investors tend to favor Meme and other altcoins. Institutions seek stable investment exposure, while individual investors pursue more innovative and high-risk opportunities. The gap between institutions and retail investors in the allocation of major cryptocurrencies has reached a record high of 30 percentage points. The mainstream cryptocurrency investment allocation ratio of institutions remains at 67%, mainly achieved through ETF inflows and other new accumulation tools, while the investment allocation ratio of retail investors to mainstream cryptocurrencies has decreased by 9% to 37%. Wintermute CEO and founder Evgeny Gaevoy stated in a report, "This divergence is not temporary, it indicates that we are experiencing a more mature, complex, and specialized cryptocurrency market. Investors are no longer chasing the same trends. Institutions view cryptocurrencies as macro assets, while retail traders continue to be attracted by innovation
