We're seeing more teams in gaming shut down.
Both on Ronin and in the broader space.
This means that small, scrappy teams will have some advantages. Established teams that have had some success in the past will also be in a stronger position.
There'll be consolidation of capital and attention.
Ronin is open. That means more freedom but also more responsibility.
We are going through an evolutionary process where the weak die and the strong survive.
Evolution is painful but leads to growth.
As the space evolves, the fundraising and sale structure for gaming tokens and NFTs will also change to prioritize both user and builder reputation.
Since there have been many successful NFT mints on Ronin recently, thanks to Ronen and other open Ronin projects, that will inevitably attract some bad actors. It will also attract legitimate builders.
Only time will tell.
In the beginning, Axie was seen as a shady project. A CryptoKitty clone.
People questioned why we needed to sell Origin Axies, then Land. They questioned the breeding system and why the Origin Axies were being diluted via the commons. Some of these criticisms also led to breakthroughs, for example SLP was created to more closely link axie inflation to proof of effort and skill in game.
It was only over many years that Sky Mavis and Axie built up trust. And even now there are many that doubt us. This is the natural process of building.
Look at the track records of teams, their vision, the activity and conduct of the founders.
The feasibility of their visions.
Many of the models in web3 gaming are broken. We need better aligned incentives.
More long-term reasons to hold tokens and NFTs. More buyback and value accrual mechanisms for these assets. And better games/product/ and mechanisms that encourage emotional spending in games.
All these things will come, only through evolution and hard times are they possible.
