The fact that Trump's tirade against Powell has lasted as a 5+ day fixation even over the Easter holiday, means Bessent is losing his grip on walking him back. Even if we don't seem him try and fire Powell, we likely see him appoint a Shadow Fed and start telegraphing upcoming policy changes in a way that markets will deeply dislike. (Fwiw, if unfamiliar with the term, other countries have "shadow cabinets" which is when someone is assigned from the other party to each role of the cabinet and basically is counter messaging, saying how they would handle the current situation. No country is crazy enough to have a shadow central bank though because they know its important to keep that apolitical)
