Bitcoin Isn’t a Scam, But Its Value is Wildly Misunderstood Calling #Bitcoin a scam is factually incorrect—but that doesn’t mean it has much intrinsic value either. The real issue? Most people have no clue what actually drives value. Value is a function of three things: 1️⃣ Utility – Does it solve a real-world problem? 2️⃣ Demand – How many people actually need that utility? 3️⃣ Rarity – Is it rare, or can more be created? Take Beanie Babies: They had utility (collectible appeal) and demand (people wanted them). But since there was no real rarity, their value collapsed. Now, Bitcoin? ✔️ Rarity? Yes. 21M coins max. (for now) ❌ Utility? Barely any—outside of buying, selling, and transferring the burden of selling to someone else. ⚠️ Demand? Driven almost entirely by speculation since people can't do anything with BTC. Bitcoin’s value isn’t zero, but it’s propped up almost entirely by price speculation. Without fundamental utility, digital rarity alone won’t sustain long-term value.
