Bitcoin's Average Transaction Fee Hits Lowest Point in Multiple Years
The average transaction fee on Bitcoin is currently 0.000013 BTC (~1.27), marking its lowest level in years.
In May 2023, December 2023, and April 2024, there were several spikes in transaction fees. These increases were driven by the introduction of Runes and Bitcoin’s sharp price surge.
At those times, the number of transactions in the mempool had significantly increased, leading to higher fees for faster confirmations.
Now, the mempool is empty, Bitcoin inscriptions have declined in popularity, and it seems that many retail investors have left the market once again.
This presents an ideal opportunity for wallet management. If you have small amounts of Bitcoin scattered across different addresses, now is a cost-effective time to consolidate them.
