According to Cointelegraph, phishing scammers are attempting to steal private keys from users of the Solana based cryptocurrency wallet Phantom by impersonating legitimate update requests through pop-up windows. On February 6th, the Web3 fraud detection platform Scam Sniffer issued a warning on the X platform, stating that scammers are connecting to real Phantom wallets and attempting to deceive users with a false "update extension" signature request. If the victim approves the request, a prompt will pop up asking them to enter mnemonic words. Once entered, the fraudster can fully access the wallet and transfer their funds. To identify malicious pop-up windows, Scam Sniffer recommends right clicking on links because "phishing pages prevent right clicking," while the real Phantom wallet window does not restrict this operation. The platform also recommends checking the website address, as the links in the real Phantom pop-up window contain "chrome extension", which cannot be imitated by fraudulent web pages.
