🚨 New Cyber Threat Targets Crypto Holders! Kaspersky (@kaspersky), the Russian cybersecurity firm, has issued a warning about a new malware called Sparkcat that specifically targets cryptocurrency holders with lax security practices. ⚠️ This crypto-stealing software scans images on users' phones to find stored seed phrases! Using advanced optical character recognition (OCR), Sparkcat can read data from images and convert it into text, searching for mnemonic phrases that protect private keys. 🔑 The malware cleverly hides its presence, making detection difficult, as it mimics the permissions of legitimate apps. One infected app, Chatai, disguised itself as an AI prompt and was available in app stores by late 2024. Kaspersky identified 18 infected Android apps and 10 iOS apps, with over 242,000 downloads, putting users at risk of having their wallets drained! 📉 Kaspersky advises immediate uninstallation of these apps and warns against storing sensitive information in your gallery. Instead, use secure applications for passwords and recovery phrases. Stay safe and vigilant! What are your thoughts on this new threat? Let us know!
