Odaily Planet Daily News: Blockchain security company Scam Sniffer reported that in January, the number of victims of cryptocurrency phishing scams reached 9220, with a total of 10.25 million US dollars stolen, a 56% decrease from December last year (with a loss of 23.58 million US dollars). However, the report points out that criminals have been constantly improving and implementing more complex attack methods. Ethereum users were the most affected by phishing scams, accounting for over 80% of stolen funds and losing over $8.6 million. BNB Chain and Arbitrarum users lost $710000 and $572000, respectively, while Polygon and Optimism users lost approximately $191000 and $82000, respectively. The company pointed out that attacks driven by malicious software dominate. The Uniswap Permit2 vulnerability alone stole $1 million, while direct transfer resulted in a loss of $549000 for the victim, with an additional $471000 stolen due to transaction simulation fraud. Another increasingly serious threat involves fraud on Telegram, with the number of such scams surging by over 2000% since November 2024.
