🇺🇸 The parents of jailed FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) are reportedly working to have U.S. President Donald Trump pardon their son. Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, both Stanford Law professors, have held meetings with lawyers and individuals linked to the Trump administration. 📜
This comes days after Trump pardoned Ross Ulbricht, creator of Silk Road, who had spent 11 years in prison. Bankman-Fried, serving a 25-year sentence, views his punishment as draconian and believes most of his victims have been made whole.
Trump's claim of being a victim of government "lawfare" may make him sympathetic to SBF's plea. Ryan Salame, SBF’s former colleague at FTX, is also reportedly seeking a pardon.
Trump’s pardon of Ulbricht has encouraged others to seek pardons. Jeffrey Grant and Sam Mangel report a spike in inquiries, while Alan Dershowitz advises patience. 🕰️
