TRUMP REPORTEDLY FIRES MULTIPLE INSPECTORS GENERAL United States President Donald Trump removed inspectors general from at least 14 major federal agencies on Friday night, according to multiple reports. Departments affected include Defense, State, Transportation, Veterans Affairs and Agriculture, among others. Notably, federal law requires a 30-day congressional notice before removing Senate-confirmed inspectors general, which the White House allegedly bypassed. According to the Washington Post, Michael Missal, inspector general of Veterans Affairs, confirmed his dismissal in an email to staff. "My understanding is that a number of other inspectors general were also fired," he wrote. The White House reportedly informed the officials via email, but offered no explanation.
