The decline is real, and the news from Democratic lawmakers proposing a ban on super AI may only serve to boost retail sentiment. However, the market is more directly concerned about the potential reduction in the construction of AI data centers after the Democratic Party wins in some key states.

From the perspective of both parties' policies, the Trump administration had substantial support for AI and data center construction, while many within the Democratic Party are more focused on the impact of data centers on local residents.

For AI, the construction of more data centers can expand computing power, which can drive demand for chips, electrical equipment, and infrastructure. However, for the public, if a data center is built near their home, rising electricity costs, water scarcity, and noise are inevitabilities that no one desires.

This suggests that Trump represents more the interests of capital, while certain members of the Democratic Party are more concerned with the popular vote.

However, it’s not only the Democratic Party that needs public support; the Republican Party also requires voter support. The current Republican governor of Texas has previously suspended approvals for some data centers. Therefore, both parties are facing similar voter demands in certain areas, though the intensity of the measures taken may differ.

For the market, the concern is not that the U.S. will suddenly ban AI, but rather that the pace of data center construction is slower than previously anticipated. This could impact chip orders, demand for electrical equipment, and the financing of related companies. Additionally, given the high capital expenditures in the AI sector, a correction was expected.

But I still believe that the overarching narrative for AI will not change; a rebound from the oversold condition is only a matter of time. Of course, I’m speaking about AI, while the semiconductor sector is likely to suffer even more.
