1. Project Overview

COINB is the tokenized on-chain version of the publicly listed American company Coinbase Global (NASDAQ code COIN), belonging to the bStocks tokenized securities system launched by Binance. It is issued by BTECH Holdings Limited, registered in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), providing holders with economic exposure to Coinbase Global, where each token is backed 1:1 by corresponding shares in a segregated account held by a regulated custodian, and it has been included in the official securities registry of ADGM. Currently, COINB is primarily deployed on the BNB Chain, allowing 24/7 trading on centralized exchanges, and can also be transferred to on-chain wallets for use. The overall circulation scale is limited, with a market value in the mid-small range, and the number of holding addresses is still in the early stages.

2. Project Introduction

The underlying asset, Coinbase, is one of the largest and most compliant cryptocurrency trading platforms in the United States, covering retail trading, institutional brokerage and custody, staking services, revenue related to stablecoins, and its self-developed Ethereum Layer 2 network Base. The company's revenue is highly correlated with the activity in the cryptocurrency market, making its stock price often seen as a "barometer" of the cryptocurrency industry’s prosperity, with volatility significantly higher than that of traditional large tech stocks.

The issuance system, bStocks, is Binance's core product in the direction of tokenized securities. Binance announced in June 2026 that it would include bStocks for trading, with these fully backed tokenized securities issued by Binance Group’s affiliate, BTech Holdings Limited, initially covering US stocks like Circle, Micron, NVIDIA, SanDisk, and Tesla. The launch of this product is predicated on the approval of the issuer's prospectus by the ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority, with a legal structure that links certain US stocks and ETFs as "certificates." COINB is one of the targets added in subsequent expansions. It is worth noting that tokens issued by the Binance system that track the stock price of its main competitor Coinbase also reflect the competition among exchanges in the tokenized stock arena.

3. Product and Technology

The core of COINB lies in the structure of "actual stock custody + on-chain certificates." On Binance's stock trading platform, users buy and sell stocks through a broker regulated by the ADGM, Nest Trading Limited, with Alpaca Securities handling clearing, custody, dividends, and corporate actions; bStocks is downstream of this link, allowing users to convert stocks already held on the platform into tokens.

In terms of acquisition pathways, users can directly choose tokenization when placing an order to convert existing stock positions into corresponding bStocks or purchase directly in the spot market. Stocks and bStocks can be converted in both directions on a 1:1 basis, with no conversion fees. However, converting bStocks back to traditional stocks requires holding a verified stock account and meeting the corresponding account conditions.

Regarding corporate action processing, bStocks automatically handles corporate actions through an on-chain rebase mechanism called "Multiplier"; when the underlying company issues dividends, net dividends are automatically reinvested into that stock. Coinbase currently does not have regular cash dividends, so this mechanism mainly reflects the handling of events like stock splits for COINB. In terms of transparency, the overall collateral proof of the entire bStocks series will be published on Binance's Proof of Collateral dashboard. In terms of on-chain usability, eligible users can trade 24/7 and hold on Binance, or self-custody through BNB Chain-compatible wallets and use them in supported DeFi applications.

4. Economic Model

COINB does not belong to the native crypto sense of token economics and does not have preset allocations, team shares, or unlocking schedules. Its supply is entirely determined by the actual shares of Coinbase held at the custodian: converting stocks into tokens indicates an increase in supply, while converting back to stocks indicates a reduction in supply; thus, there is no fixed cap and no inflation design.

Price anchoring relies on a two-layer mechanism: first, the value base provided by the 1:1 actual stock backing; second, the arbitrage space created by the conversion channel—when the token price deviates from the underlying stock price, eligible users can convert between stocks and tokens to capture price differences, thereby pulling the price back within the anchoring range. It should be noted that conversions may be suspended during US stock market holidays, weekends, and corporate actions; during this time, the token price is mainly determined by on-chain and market supply and demand, which may lead to temporary deviations.

5. Team and Investors

The issuance and operation sides are coordinated by multiple entities within the Binance ecosystem: BTech Holdings Limited acts as the special purpose vehicle registered in ADGM responsible for issuing, Nest Trading Limited undertakes brokerage and conversion infrastructure, and Alpaca Securities handles clearing and custody. Binance's co-CEOs He Yi and Richard Teng lead the management team positioning bStocks as part of their "financial super application" strategy.

The underlying company Coinbase was co-founded by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam, with Armstrong serving as CEO for a long time. The company went public directly on NASDAQ in 2021 and was subsequently included in the S&P 500 index, becoming one of the most representative companies in the cryptocurrency industry in the US stock market.

6. Roadmap

The bStocks system is still rapidly expanding. Geographically, Binance has launched bStocks for eligible users in the UAE; in terms of products, Binance has introduced activities allowing users to deposit some third-party tokenized securities and convert them into corresponding bStocks on a 1:1 basis, while continually adding new stocks and ETF targets, and expanding DeFi integration scenarios.

On the Coinbase side, the company is advancing its "Universal Exchange" strategy, integrating products such as tokenized stocks and prediction markets with cryptocurrency trading on the same platform, while continuously building the Base ecosystem and institutional business. The company’s third-quarter financial report is about to be released, and its performance and guidance will be an important point influencing the underlying stock price.

7. Risks and Opportunities

Risks: First, legal structure risk—bStocks are classified as certificates representing specific financial instruments rather than the stocks themselves, meaning holders do not directly own shares of the underlying company and do not have shareholder rights such as voting; second, custodial and counterparty risk, with token value dependent on the robust operation of the issuer and the custodian chain; third, geographical restrictions, as the product is not open to US persons; fourth, liquidity and detachment risks, as the current on-chain scale is small, and premium or discount may occur during conversion suspension; fifth, the underlying stock price itself is highly volatile and closely linked to the cryptocurrency market cycles; additionally, there are uncertainties arising from smart contract and regulatory policy changes.

Opportunities: COINB allows non-US users to access Coinbase's price exposure 24/7, supports fragmented holdings, and lowers the threshold for traditional broker accounts; as a standard token on the BNB Chain, it has the potential to be combined with DeFi lending, market-making, and other scenarios; the regulatory framework of the ADGM also provides a relatively clear compliance basis for it. As the overall enthusiasm for tokenized stocks heats up, the use cases for such products are expected to continue to expand.

8. Conclusion

COINB is a tokenized certificate tracking Coinbase Global under the Binance bStocks system, with core designs of 1:1 custody of actual stocks, dual conversion between stocks and tokens, and the Multiplier mechanism, bringing a representative US stock of the cryptocurrency industry onto the blockchain within a regulatory framework governed by the ADGM. Its value is entirely anchored to the underlying stock, with supply dynamically changing based on conversions, lacking traditional token economic attributes. For followers, it is important to track two lines simultaneously: the operational and stock price performance of Coinbase itself, and the custody transparency, liquidity depth, and regulatory progress of the bStocks system.
