The potential to reduce transaction costs in XRP transactions formed the basis of the rationale for a new U.S. fund targeting $75 million in capital. Gratus Reserve V, LLC filed a preliminary offering circular (Form 1-A) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to register a diversified corporate treasury.

As the primary economic argument for its portfolio structure, Gratus Reserve V cites calculations using XRP as an example. According to the company, purchasing $5,000 worth of XRP through institutional over-the-counter (OTC) desks costs investors nearly 10 times less than executing an equivalent transaction on the retail market.

The cost reduction is achieved through direct access to liquidity pools, eliminating hidden spreads on retail platforms, higher brokerage fees, and price slippage.

In addition to XRP, Gratus Reserve V's treasury strategy provides for the integration of assets aligned with the ISO 20022 international standard for interbank messaging.

The list includes Stellar (XLM), Cardano (ADA), Hedera (HBAR), and Quant (QNT). To balance the infrastructure component of its portfolio, the fund intends to acquire the three largest digital assets by market capitalization: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL).

The Gratus Reserve V initiative reflects changes in the structure of corporate reserve management through Digital Asset Treasury Holdings. While companies invested primarily in BTC during the initial stage of corporate adoption, by September 2026 the focus had shifted toward high-throughput layer-1 (L1) networks and blockchain protocols compatible with the traditional banking sector.

The filing with the SEC coincided with a trend recorded this year toward the long-term accumulation of XRP and leading altcoins by large on-chain addresses.

At present, the filing is under review by the regulator and remains preliminary. This means that Gratus Reserve V is not yet permitted to raise funds or sell its shares to investors — the fund is awaiting formal approval from the SEC.

At the same time, the company chose the Regulation A (Tier 2) format. In practice, this is a rare loophole that, if approved, will allow the fund to make this institutional strategy available not only to major players but also to ordinary retail investors.

The main condition will be full transparency: the fund will have to regularly publish rigorous audited financial statements, effectively placing its altcoin operations under direct government oversight.
