Midas Markets is the FOMO of the Perps track

The two seem to be on different paths, but in fact lead to the same destination

1/ When you open an exchange, what are you thinking?

When you open Binance or OKX, what greets you is the search box, trading pair list, candlestick chart, and buy/sell panel. The entire interface assumes one thing: that the user already knows what they want to do, they just need a place to complete it.

In other words, traditional exchanges only take responsibility from the moment you decide to buy. As for how you made that decision, what you saw on Twitter, what you heard in the group, what you researched on your own, the platform doesn’t care, and cannot care.

But @fomo and @midasmarketsxyz want to incorporate that step as well.

2/ How does FOMO work?

When you open FOMO, what you see is not a trading panel, but streams of content.

You may not have decided what to buy, or even intended to trade, just casually scrolling to see what everyone is playing with lately. But while scrolling, you might see a certain KOL flaunting a 10x gain, the comments filled with FOMO sentiments, or a flood of smart money pouring in.

A vague curiosity thus turns into a concrete trade.

The logic of FOMO is about discovering opportunities through content and igniting desires through the social atmosphere.

Trading is the natural product of the browsing process.

3/ How does Midas work?

Midas takes a different approach, but the structure is the same.

When users open Midas, the first thing they see is not a contract trading interface, but news and opinion sections. No one opens Midas with the thought “I want to long gold,” but after reading a piece of news from the Federal Reserve, looking at an analysis of AI impacts, and receiving a recommendation that includes entry and stop-loss points, they develop a trading intention.

FOMO drives you with social emotions, Midas persuades you with analysis.

The methods differ, but they are doing the same thing, completing the transformation from information to trading intention within the product.

4/ Why is this important?

This reversal is not new; the content industry has long traveled this road.

▌The hypothesis in the Google era is that users come with questions, input keywords, and products are responsible for providing answers. This corresponds to the search box of traditional exchanges.

▌The hypothesis in the TikTok era is that users have no questions, only boredom; once opened, the product is responsible for generating interest. This corresponds to the content flow of FOMO and Midas.

Each time this kind of migration occurs, the results are the same: the party controlling the entrance takes away the pricing power of the entire value chain.

On-chain trading is currently in the early stages of this migration.

5/ Midas will not grow explosively like FOMO

Although FOMO and Midas are structurally isomorphic in “information → trade,” their growth paths are completely different.

▌FOMO's growth relies on network effects

FOMO's information is generated by users themselves. Who bought what, how much they made, and why they bought—these are all content in themselves. Each user is both a consumer and a disseminator. You buy a Meme coin and post about it, your followers see it and buy too, and a new round of diffusion begins.

The more users there are → the more content there is → attracting more users.

▌Midas's growth relies on tool efficiency

Midas's information comes from news and AI, and users are one-way consumers. The presence of one user does not make the product more appealing to the next user. Its growth depends on external customer acquisition and word-of-mouth accumulation, rather than spontaneous internal product viral growth.

In one sentence, FOMO's users are its channels, while Midas's users are merely its customers.

So I conclude that Midas will not grow explosively like FOMO but will be more of a steady stream.

Explosive power belongs to social interactions, lasting power belongs to tools. Two kinds of growth, two kinds of destinies.
