An oil tanker has been hit in the Southern Passage of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz

The UK's Maritime Trade Operations Office has issued official warning number 122-26, confirming that an oil tanker was struck by an unidentified flying object about 12 nautical miles north of Hassab, Oman at 20:53 UTC on August 29. There are currently no reports of casualties or environmental pollution, and relevant departments are still investigating.

In a shipping report released the previous day, UKMTO noted that of the 18 projectile hit incidents recorded since July 6, 16 occurred along the southern route of Oman, which has become one of the highest risk transit areas in the Strait of Hormuz. This latest attack on another oil tanker heading into the Gulf indicates that vessels are still navigating close to the Omani side and are unable to avoid the risk of attack.

This also demonstrates that the so-called U.S. control over Hormuz is unfounded, and if vessels escorted by the U.S. Navy are still attacked, the implications for the U.S. will be significant. This will also force more powers to acknowledge Iran's control over Hormuz and choose to pay a 7% "protection fee."
